It wasn?t even a contest. While Pavel Datsyuk (clicky for a rough translation of a remarkable little conversation he had with Championat?s Maria Rogovskaya) was held off the scoresheet, a mistake-prone Finnish defense and a very, very leaky Petri Vehanen could not hold off the Russian Machine, and with only the line of Valtteri Filppula, Mikko Koivu and Jussi Jokinen providing offense, the Finns couldn?t out-score their mistakes. As such, Russia handed Finland a 6-2 defeat, cruising all the way thanks to a hat trick by Evgeni Malkin. Datsyuk played 17:03 and went 7-and-6 in the faceoff circle, took a shot and finished even, and Filppula took a shot, won a faceoff and managed to stay even in 18:00 of ice time. Team Russia will face off against the winner of today?s Czech Republic-Slovakia (Tomas Tatar) game (on at 11:30 AM EDT) in tomorrow?s Gold medal game at 1:30 PM EDT, while Finland will play for Bronze at 9 AM EDT. After receiving nothing less than a smorgasbord of World Championship coverage from the NBC Sports Network on Thursday, whoever?s in charge of scheduling events decided that one cannot piggyback TSN?s coverage when there are perfectly good reruns of fishing shows which must take precedence over hockey, so hockey die-hards like myself have set their alarms and are preparing to access semi-legal, grainy online streams to watch the last two days of the Worlds, starting with today?s Semifinals: • 7:30 AM EDT: Slovakia (Tomas Tatar) vs. Czech Republic (Petr Mrazek, not playing for the Czechs); • 11:30 AM EDT: Russia (Pavel Datsyuk) vs. Finland (Valtteri Filppula) NBC Sports will televise one of the above-mentioned games at, according to their schedule, 9 PM EDT. VM lider mot sitt slut och det märker man på sillyfronten.
Igår smällde Rögle upp Martin Gerber och Brynäs presenterade Andreas Thuresson. Malmöpågen har ryktats till Brynäs ett tag men nu är det klart. Efter fem säsonger i AHL och NHL så vänder han tillbaka.

- Andreas är en kille som har visat bra karaktär, och som under fem år i USA, verkligen försökt kämpa sig in i NHL. Det känns jättebra att den vilja och den glöd som han har kan komma oss till del, säger Brynäs sportchef Micke Sundlöv till brynas.se.

Det är ju de stora eftertraktade namnen alla väntar på och när de väl sätter igång så brukar det hända grejer snabbt.
Idag skriver Aftonbladet att Dick Axelsson förhandlar med Färjestad. Spelarna i laget har satt igång en "#dickkomhem"-kampanj på twitter. Nu verkar det vara något på gång där.

Ett annat namn, Fabian Brunnström, som Rögle vill se i sitt lag i höst lägger korten på bordet i dagens Helsingborgs dagblad.

- Jag har pratat lite med Rögle och vet att de är intresserade. Men jag är inställd på att spela för Detroit och tills den dörren är stängd har jag fokus på det, säger Brunnström till tidningen.

Fabian berättar att han fått klart för sig att Detroit tror på honom och att de nu ser en plats för honom i NHL. Så Fabian kommer åka över "för att spela NHL".
Då har vi två, Mattias Sjögren och Fabian Brunnström som både drömmer om NHL men vid misslyckande kan bli aktuella för Rögle i höst. Har Rögle ekonomiskt utrymme så sent för två så etablera spelare om det skulle bli aktuellt? Det är jag övertygad om.

I en annan artikel i dagens HD så berättar Pelle Svensson att han är ute efter "erfarenhet" på samtliga poster han ska ha in. Därför undrar jag, den där Thomas Spelling som själv sagt till mig personligen att han är "nära Rögle". Inget tyder på det längre. Pelle säger också att fler värvningar är inom räckhåll.

- Det finns diskussioner och bollar som flyger uppe i taket på kontoret just nu. Sen gäller det att plocka ner och sätta dit någon av dem.

Laufen für den guten Zweck

Lauf mit! Dieser Aufforderung kommen die LIWEST Black Wings auch heuer wieder nach, wenn es am 2. Juni in Gallneukirchen darum geht, sich zu Gunsten der Sektion Behindertensport des SV Gallneukirchen zu engagieren. Ab 15 Uhr startet der Charity-Lauf mit Black Wings Beteiligung und führt über 4 Kilometer - und das alles für den guten Zweck. Es steht nicht die Zeit im Vordergrund (daher gibt es auch gar keine Zeitnehmung), sonder das gemeinsame Laufen für den Behindertensport. Die LIWEST Black Wings werden der Einladung zu diesem Event wieder sehr gerne Folge leisten und sich am 2. Juni in den Dienst der guten Sache stellen. Der EBEL Champion würde sich freuen, wenn auch zahlreiche Fans an diesem tollen Event teilnehmen würden. NEW YORK (March 19, 2012) ? Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov, Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford and Nashville Predators right wing Martin Erat have been named the NHL?s ?Three Stars? for the week ending March 18.

FIRST STAR ? ILYA BRYZGALOV, G, PHILADELPHIA FLYERS
Bryzgalov posted a 3-0-1 record, 1.44 goals-against average, .950 save percentage and one shutout as the Flyers (42-22-8, 92 points) earned seven out of a possible eight points. He began the week by making 17 saves for his third consecutive shutout in a 3-0 win against the New Jersey Devils March 13. Bryzgalov extended his career-best shutout streak to 249:43, a Flyers franchise record, before allowing a goal with 6:30 remaining in a 3-2 victory at the New York Islanders March 15. He then made

31 saves in a 3-2 shootout loss at the Boston Bruins March 17 and 38 stops in a 3-2 come-from-behind victory against the Pittsburgh Penguins March 18.

The 31-year-old netminder has reached 30 wins for the third straight season and has a 2.49 goals-against average, .911 save percentage and six shutouts in 53 appearances.

SECOND STAR ? COREY CRAWFORD, G, CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS
Crawford had a 3-0-0 record, 1.09 goals-against average and .948 save percentage as the Blackhawks (40-25-8, 88 points) improved to 7-1-1 in their last nine games. He stopped all 18 shots he faced in 45 minutes of relief and denied all three challengers in the shootout as Chicago earned a 4-3 come-from-behind victory against the St. Louis Blues March 13. Crawford then closed the week by making 21 saves in a 4-1 win at the Dallas Stars March 16 and 16 stops in a 5-2 victory against the Washington Capitals March 18. He improved to 25-16-5 with a 2.83 goals-against average and .902 save percentage in 49 appearances.

THIRD STAR ? MARTIN ERAT, RW, NASHVILLE PREDATORS
Erat led the League with seven points (two goals, five assists) in four games as the Predators (42-22-8, 92 points) leapfrogged the Detroit Red Wings for fourth place in the Western Conference. He recorded one goal and two assists in a 5-4 shootout win at the Phoenix Coyotes March 12 and collected one helper in a 2-1 shootout loss at the San Jose Sharks March 15. Erat then tallied a goal and an assist in a 4-2 defeat at the Los Angeles Kings March 17 before closing the week with an assist in a 3-1 victory at the Anaheim Ducks March 18. The Trebic, Czech Republic native leads Nashville with 38 assists and 56 points in 64 games, and is on pace to establish career highs in both categories.
