The 2011-12 NHL season is a distant memory for the Chicago Blackhawks, but some members of the organization were still in action at the 2012 IIHF World Championships.

Heading into the semifinals, forward Michael Frolik stands alone. His team from the Czech Republic still has the opportunity to finish with a medal.

In all, seven current members of the organization skated on one of four different teams.
Green Bay defeats Waterloo, 3-1

Press Release

Ryan McKay made 31 saves and three different Green Bay Gamblers scored a goal as the road team won for the second time in the series and the Gamblers now lead 2-1 in the best-of-five Clark Cup Final.

The opening minutes of the game saw the series reach a pace faster than any game so far and both teams had quality chances through the first frame. Sam Herr would open the scoring with two minutes remaining in the first period with his first of the series and fifth goal of the playoffs.

Early in the second period, defenseman Mitch Witek tied the game with his second goal of the series for Waterloo. Just over four minutes later, Kyle Novak would respond and again put the Gamblers up by goal when he fired a shot that found its way through Black Hawks goaltender Stephon Williams. Later in the period, Grant Arnold extended the lead to two goals when he scored his fourth of the postseason. Novak would earn his second point of the night with an assist on the Arnold goal.

There would be no scoring in the third period as McKay foiled any chance of a comeback by Waterloo when he turned away all 11 shots that came his direction. Williams made 16 saves in the loss.

It was the first time that Waterloo had lost on home ice in the 2012 Clark Cup Playoffs (6-1) and ended a 15-game home winning streak that dated back to March 10th.

Green Bay has limited the Black Hawks to three goals over the first three games of the series. Game Four of the series takes place on Saturday night in Waterloo as Green Bay looks to close out the series and the Black Hawks look to avoid elimination and extend the series to a decisive Game Five.
